World's Largest Bike Rodeo

So this past weekend was the NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo at the DC Convention Center. What on earth does this mean to me? This means that my bike rodeo partner in crime Dorcas Adkins and I put on what was quite honestly the craziest bike rodeo we have ever done.

78,000 people pass through the doors of the Expo armed with shopping bags and carts in order to pick up themillions of freebies and widgets that everyone from Pfizer to the DC Department of Health is giving out. Sadly a number of these people are also there for the free health screenings offered by pharmaceutical companies- don't get me started on how we don't have free and ample health care in this country. ANYHOW i got a flu shot and survived 10 hours of non-stop kid action.

With the generous help of some dedicated WABA volunteers like Jim and Nancy Little (i want to be like them when i'm old) and my incredible friends Joel and Kevin (pictured left modeling the ever popular "cootie cap") we churned through about 500 kids on saturday. Joel put it best when he described it as kid agility training (like dog agility training).

Whew- glad that only happens once a year!
