I know- i promised photos of people kayaking IN the Potomac, not a lame photo of a kayak on a beat up old Subari.

As i was putting my boat in the water this morning i realized that i wasn't going to be comfortable photographing the other paddlers that day. About 15 young men (nearly boys) were getting geared up to go out on the water- only difference between me and them was i was going to take my legs with me- they were detaching theirs to keep them on dry land. From what i overheard they were military veterans. One of them mentioned loosing his leg in Iraq. Something about pulling out a camera and taking photos didn't seem appropriate.

Anyhow- i was sad to see up close the ravages of this silly war, although absolutely thrilled that this handfull of guys out enjoying a beautiful day on the river...
